In the current context, various actions undertaken by the private sector, business foundations and civil society organizations are based and justified through concepts whose versatility – which can even be described as ambiguity – allows us to dazzle, or as It would be said in the eighties, to “screen” the interlocutor. At least three of them are used with great frequency: innovation, impact and sustainable. Let's give a brief review. Innovation. Encouraging and consolidating innovative projects is a great challenge. In the definition of the real academy of the Spanish language, innovation is: “action of innovating”, it sends us to “innovate” which has two meanings, the second one being out of use: 1) Changing or altering something, introducing novelties and 2) ) Return something to its previous state. The use and abuse of the concept is manifested in activities that, remembering and paraphrasing Albert Einstein, “you cannot obtain new results by doing the same thing,” are repeated ad infinitum, but using “innovation” can “sell” the project, event or activity. For this reason, it is common today to include this concept in the title of a forum or meeting to make it more attractive, even when the content or its form of presentation is the same, or as usual. Innovating represents breaking paradigms, but to do so, you have to immerse yourself in a creative process to find “the new”, the surprise, a different route or greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Other eyes and perspectives are required to Finland Mobile Number List move the way we address social problems. These efforts can flow with the participation of various actors. Throughout this year, Yucatán has been a place of reflection and work regarding innovation. Last May, the Innovation Day of the Citizen Inclusion Laboratory took place, whose main objective was to analyze how to include all people in education. For this, the promoters Martha Castro Castro and Lourdes Epstein had the support of the School of Humanities and Education of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the Autonomous University of Yucatán, the Secretariat of Research, Innovation and Higher Education of the Government of the State of Yucatán, the Foundation SM and Medialab-Prado (Madrid) and held a meeting during a week of intense work. In those days, the educators brought in the specialist Antonio Lafuente to subject 10 projects to the innovation process with very attractive results. One of them: changing the paradigm of the person who proposed the project that “it is no longer my project, but ours” which modifies the way the proposal is approached with reality. This week, with this methodology, the 1st Participatory Innovation Conference, “Mérida moves me”, is being carried out, which brings together the Nobel Secretariat of Citizen Participation of the Mérida city council and civil society organizations.
We will have to keep an eye on these results but the truth is that creativity is required to innovate. The second concept is impact. It is generally accompanied by the adjective “social”, that is, social impact. It is used to indicate the relevant contributions of an organization, program, project or service. Although it can be defined in a very simple way, social impact means “transformations” or “changes” that occur (whether positive or negative) in the community and includes the effects, that is, the changes in the people involved. But it turns out that in its use the ambiguity is taken advantage of, so various ideas can be said to praise the actions. Analyzing the use of “impact” referring to social projects has allowed us to detect at least 15 uses. Thus, impact can mean: shock, hit, scare, encompass, remember, result, attend, severity, affectation, provide benefits, conseque, this mess shows one of the most common practices that occur in the evaluation of social projects: confusing results with transformations, which is why the former are estimated as impacts when they are not. Sustainable. It is associated with sustainable or sustainability. This last word does not appear in the Dictionary of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, but sustainable and sustainable does.
