U-Label is the new platform developed for the creation of digital labels for the alcoholic beverage industry, specifically in the wine and spirits industry. This new implementation was presented in Brussels and will allow consumers throughout Europe to access information on these products through QR code technology.
U-Label was developed thanks to the collaboration between the European associations of both sectors: CEEV and SpiritsEUROPE and their respective national associations in the different countries, among which are the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) and Spirits Spain.
“We decided to create 'U-Label' to offer all wine and spirits companies Industry Email List an affordable solution. “We are proud to be able to offer this innovative multilingual tool two years before the new labeling rules become a legal obligation for wine producers within the framework of the CAP,” added Ignacio Sánchez Recarte, general secretary of the CEEV.
The possibilities of U-Label in the industry
The platform allows any wine or spirits company, regardless of its size, to provide its consumers with relevant, standardized and detailed information such as the list of ingredients, nutritional information , responsible consumption guidelines and information on sustainability.
“Today, consumers expect more transparency in the products they consume and digital labeling can respond to this demand by boosting the information that companies share with their consumers,” said Jean-Marie Barillère, president of CEEV.
With fifteen companies participating in the pilot phase, the standardized 'U-Label' system has been thoroughly tested before its official launch to the wider European industry today. The platform will be available to all companies in both sectors starting November 1. This collaboration with companies from various countries and sizes has made it possible to adjust the platform as much as possible to the true needs of today's wine and spirits companies and consumers.
